Birth of the brand
The brand was founded in 1907 , and Atala honors the fact that the winner of the first Giro d'Italia in 1909 wore one of its jerseys: Luigi Ganna. In 1921, Cesare Rizzato, a craftsman frame builder in Padua , began producing under the Ceriz brand, which was later joined by the Atala brand and, later, the prestigious Maino and Dei brands, which dominated the international racing scene in the 1960s. In 2002 , the company took the name Atala SpA and, based in Monza, has been part of the Accell Group, a European leader in the bicycle and accessories market, since 2011. Atala produces traditional and pedal-assisted bicycles, a complete line of accessories, and home fitness equipment.
