1938 Where it all began... Hans Trunkenpolz opens a mechanical workshop in Mattighofen, Austria.

1964 The beginning of KTM Bike Industries... KTM produces its first bicycles, the Fleetwing being produced and launched in the USA. The company already had around 220 employees at that time.

1978 The first KTM Roadbike... The company's first amateur racing bike, the Formula S, is produced for technically demanding riders.

1988 The future of the cycling industry... The future of the cycling world reaches the company with the production of the first mountain bike, the Ultra Cross 1988.

1989 The first is made... The 1,000,000th bicycle is produced.

1994 New frame, first eBike... New material, KTM produces bicycles with aluminum frames for the first time. The first electric bike is also produced for the Austrian Automobile Club (ÖAMTC).

1996 On January 7, 1996, Carol Urkauf-Chen takes over KTM Fahrrad GmbH (entered in the commercial register in 1997).

1998 Image change... An important step in the company's history, KTM goes orange!

2006 New materials and PDS system... The first bikes with full carbon frames are launched. The first bike with the PDS system, the Prowler AT1, is also produced.

2007 A new headquarters... The new KTM Bike Industries headquarters, equipped with the latest technology, is inaugurated. The 2,340 m² building offers space for 50 employees and a spacious showroom.

2009 Something big is coming... Introduction of the first electric mountain bike, the Energo Race. From an idea and a small number of units, a large series was born. After initial skepticism, the Energo Race received very good and excellent feedback.

2018 Generational change in management... Owner Carol Urkauf-Chen moves to the supervisory board and hands over the helm to her daughter Johanna Urkauf. Franz Leingartner enters a well-deserved retirement after 45 years with the company. Johanna Urkauf and Stefan Limbrunner are managing directors of KTM Fahrrad GmbH.

2020: The Year of the KTM Grand Tour! For the first time in KTM Bike Industries' history, two teams will be competing in two of the three Grand Tours. B&B Hotels - Vital Concept p/b KTM will be competing in the Tour de France, and Vini Zabu KTM will be competing in the Giro d'Italia.
