The ancient and glorious Torpado brand was founded in Padua in 1895 and has been owned by Cicli Esperia since 2001. From the 1950s until 1962, Torpado had a professional team that participated in eleven editions of the Giro d'Italia.
The founder of the Torpado company is Torresini, hence the brand acronym (Torresini-Padova).
The historic headquarters were in Via Nicolò Tommaseo in Padua, then it moved to the Industrial Zone.
The riders' jerseys were blue with a black horizontal band.
These were the years of Bevilacqua, Brasola, Conterno, Dall'Agata, De Filippi, who won a stage of the Giro, Favero, Gismondi, Giusti, Zamboni but, above all, of Cleto Maule and Aldo Moser who rivaled Coppi and Magni, finishing fourth and fifth respectively in the 1956 Giro. Aldo Moser won two stages of the Giro, one of which was on the Pordoi.
The team's frames were custom-made for each rider, starting with the basic Torpado frame and then modified to suit the athlete's needs. The frames were dip-painted and then baked. The threading and paint finishing were done by hand. Before sandblasting, the frames were sanded down with sandpaper, then coated with anti-rust paint. The frames were made of steel, while the handlebars were made of aluminum.
There was a historic shop in Piazza Insurrezione, "Torpado," where bikes were sold but, more importantly, trophies were displayed. At the time, Torpado was the second-largest Italian company in the sector in terms of sales and employees.

The founding principle of the Torpado company was teamwork, harmony, and, above all, unwavering passion. This same passion today defines Cicli Esperia with the TORPADO URSUS and TORPADO SUDTIROL teams, which compete in the Mountain Bike World Cup, the Italian International Championships, major international competitions, and the European and World Championships and Olympic Games.
